You're free to ask for help with any 'unofficial' Dolphin-related software in a new thread. It's like I had to open a new thread in the Support section to ask help with Ishiiruka. Also, as Dolphiilution is a unofficial software and not part of Dolphin project, I think I can't freely create threads to ask for support in the Dolphin forum. Posting a new thread, however, gets the community's immediate attention, especially with a descriptive title. A lot of the regulars won't bother to check old mega threads even when updated unless they were once very interested in the original subject. Their problem is simply more visible to people who want to help. At that point, we want people to make new threads about issues largely for their own benefit. With the mega threads, they tend to get abandoned. Honestly, our policy is not much different from Reddit where older discussions are auto-archived after some time, except we have to close things manually on the Dolphin Forums. The alternative is to let people necropost which actually was a huge problem circa 2015. We're actually okay with having the same questions brought up over and over again in Support or General Discussion people have been doing that ever since I joined in 2011, and it's never gotten out of hand. It should also be common sense to read the forum rules (we even announce when we've made changes), in which case we clearly state in a situation like that people should make new threads, even if we have an existing 'mega' thread from years ago. The alternative would flood the subforum with small threads each time a user has a doubt.

It's common sense to go ask for help there, even if it didn't have activity for years. But the old thread was the official thread of Dolphiilution, started by the user who create it and where all the questions and resources about it are gathered.
